Blood Conservation and Management Program
Concern for the safety and availability of blood has created a healthcare crisis that demands the pursuit of blood conservation strategies and alternatives. These alternatives to blood transfusions maybe in the form of pharmaceutical products, surgical techniques and preoperative planning. Christus St. John Hospital strives to meet the healthcare needs of the community and is committed to providing quality alternatives for our patients who request "no blood" or wish a conservative management of their circulatory system.
Our team of healthcare professionals, including Admissions Personnel, Nursing Staff, and our Physicians are dedicated to respecting the dignity and the patient's right to choose nonblood medical management of their healthcare.
Please be sure to speak with and inform anyone involved in your care of your choice not to recive blood or blood products. Our staff includes a Blood Conservation Program Coordinator who is on call to fill out Advance Directives and answer any questions or concerns you might have about this Program and your chioces regarding alternative strategies available to you.
