Athletic Training Program

At CHRISTUS St. John Hospital, we combine Emergency Medicine, Injury Evaluation and Rehabilitation to create a comprehensive athletic training and sports medicine program. Our allied health professionals possess extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, preventive medicine, exercise and conditioning, nutrition and sports psychology.

Using state-of-the-art equipment and personalized therapeutics, our licensed athletic trainers and therapists work individually with each patient to restore functional independence, prevent future injuries, alleviate discomfort and promote physical healing. In addition, our center offers open- and closed-chain isokinetic testing and rehabilitation to monitor and manage patient progress.

Benefits of On-site Athletic Trainers
CHRISTUS St. John Hospital provides area schools with athletic trainers of the highest caliber. There are many advantages to employing one of our certified professionals, including:

  • Expert Care: Having a licensed athletic trainer present during athletic functions provides for immediate and expert care, evaluation and treatment of injuries. Trainers can help athletes and their families understand the nature of injuries and offer advice on effective management, referrals and rehabilitation.
  • Evaluations and Recommendations: Athletic trainers evaluate injuries and make recommendations that can reduce complications and shorten recovery times. Trainers assist coaches in determining when injuries should preclude an athlete’s participation in competitions. And parents have peace of mind, knowing that a certified expert is present, should an injury occur.
